How to Use LokApp

Your complete guide to organizing everything with AI

Quick Start

1. Create Locations & Containers 2. Add Items with AI 3. Multi-Item Shelf Scanning 4. Find Your Things 5. Share with Family 6. Offline Mode 7. Tips & Tricks

1 Create Locations & Containers

LokApp organizes your belongings in a hierarchy: Locations (your home, office, storage unit) contain Containers (rooms, closets, boxes, shelves) which hold your Items.

Create a Location

  1. Go to the Spaces tab
  2. Tap the + button
  3. Choose Location as the type
  4. Enter a name (e.g., "London House", "Storage Unit")
  5. Optionally add address, access info, and a photo
  6. Tap Save

Add Containers Inside

  1. Open a location or container
  2. Tap + to add a sub-container
  3. Choose a type: Room, Closet, Shelf, Box, Drawer, Cabinet
  4. Name it and save
Tip: You can nest up to 7 levels deep. For example: London House → Kitchen → Pantry → Top Shelf → Box.

2 Add Items with AI

The fastest way to catalog an item: take a photo and let AI do the rest.

Single Item

  1. Tap the camera button (center of the tab bar)
  2. Take a photo of the item
  3. AI instantly fills in the name, category, and tags
  4. Cloud AI then enhances with brand, model, material, and description
  5. Review, edit if needed, choose a container, and Save
How AI works: The on-device AI gives you instant results (name + category in ~20ms). Then the cloud AI adds richer details like brand and model. You'll see a blue "AI analyzing..." badge while cloud AI is working. Fields filled by AI show a source badge (bolt icon = on-device, cloud icon = cloud AI).

From Gallery

Already have a photo? Tap the gallery icon on the camera screen to pick from your photo library. AI analysis works the same way.

3 Multi-Item Shelf Scanning

Photograph an entire shelf, drawer, or box — AI detects each item individually and creates separate entries for each.

  1. Tap the camera button
  2. Take a photo of a shelf or group of items
  3. If AI detects multiple items, you're taken to the Multi-Review screen
  4. Each item gets its own cropped photo and AI-filled details
  5. Review each item — edit names, categories, or remove any you don't want
  6. Choose a container for all items
  7. Tap Save All to create them at once
Tip: For best results, photograph items with some space between them. AI draws bounding boxes around each detected item and crops them individually.

5 Share with Family

Share any location with up to 6 other people. Everyone can see what's stored where.

How to Share a Location

  1. Open a Location (e.g., "London House")
  2. Tap the Members button in the header (people icon)
  3. Tap Invite
  4. Choose a role for the new member
  5. Share the invite link via Messages, WhatsApp, email, or any app

Accepting an Invite

  1. Tap the invite link you received
  2. If you have LokApp installed, it opens directly in the app
  3. If not, the link takes you to a page where you can download the app first
  4. Tap Accept to join the shared location
  5. The shared location appears in your Spaces tab with a members badge

Three Roles

👑
Owner
Full control. Add, edit, delete anything. Manage members and invites.
✏️
Contributor
Add new items and containers. Edit or delete only what you added.
👀
Viewer
Browse everything in the location. Can't add, edit, or delete.

Managing Members

As the owner, tap Members on any shared location to:

Note: Invite links expire after 72 hours and can only be used once. You can generate a new link at any time.

6 Offline Mode

LokApp works without an internet connection. Browse your inventory, add new items, and take photos — everything syncs when you're back online.

Look for the sync banner at the top of the screen — it shows when items are waiting to be synced.

7 Tips & Tricks

QR Code Labels

Generate a QR code for any container. Print it and stick it on the box. Scan it later to jump straight to that container's contents.

Move Items

Open an item and tap the container name to move it to a different location. The app tracks movement history so you can see where things have been.

Export

Export your entire inventory as a CSV file from the Profile tab. Useful for insurance documentation or moving.

Container Photos

Add a reference photo to any container so you remember what it looks like from the outside.

Cloud AI Toggle

If you want faster, fully-offline item creation, you can disable cloud AI in Settings. On-device AI still fills in the basics.
